Viviane Bauquet Farre is not Italian but the passion that goes into her recipes and cooking courses is exactly that which makes Italian cooking great. Viviane believes in using only the freshest of ingredients, normally bought from local farmers - even her site looks fresh and bright.
Viviane’s cooking style has won her international accolades and her recipes are truly innovative. Even here in Italy Viviane is much respected. I have tried many of her recipes (these are some of the best) and I can honestly say that they are superb – though do make sure you use quality ingredients.
Learning to cook with Viviane is a really special experience. If you want superb cooking lessons in New York then no better place can be recommended. The classes are small, everything you need is provided and the students get to enjoy a wonderful dinner with Viviane at the end of the evening. The courses have become so popular that I would suggest you book as soon as you can. They are held in Viviane’s home in the little village of Piermont, New York only 30 minutes drive north of Manhattan.
My personal favorite, being biased towards Italian food as I am, is the Pizza course with Italian wines. Also excellent is the heirloom tomato course, it is amazing what you can do with these tomatoes and Viviane creates some mouthwatering dishes based on them. One of the best tomato recipes that Viviane makes is her Tomato Frittata – watch the video below for the recipe.
