Car Rental Italy

Car Rental Italy is undoubtedly the best way to explore the secret places, quaint country villages and out of the way hill towns of the Italian countryside.

Trains in Italy are excellent but they are really only ideal if you are visiting the major cities and towns.

To really discover Italy and have a holiday of a lifetime, you need to base yourself in a country town in the heart of the Italian countryside, and rent a car. Renting a villa or country apartment and hiring a car is the way to do it.

Hotels are great if you are going to be based in a city like Rome, Turin or Venice. in which case you are better of without a car rental. The traffic in the major Italian cities is scary.

A hotel or resort is also fine if you intend to spend a week basking on a beach in Sicily or Sardinia. If you do decide to do this then these are some of my hotel picks in Sardinia.

When it comes to car rental in Italy I have tried a variety of car hire companies. Some are good and some are very bad.

My personal favourite for car rental, in terms of service and rates, is without a doubt Easy Car - their special " Book now, pay later " deal was a great help on a couple of occasions when I had to urgently fly to the other side of Italy, or in one case to Spain.

They have always seemed to offer the best rates and good service too.
