Poetto Beach Cagliari
Poetto Beach is not one of those stunning beaches miles from anywhere. I like it though and the best thing of all is that it's in Cagliari which is a really lovely little city and so underrated or maybe just unknown. Don't get me wrong, although Poetto might not be Cala Luna or the Villasimius beaches, it's a lovely lovely beach and an enormous beach too, long and wide, about five miles long I think. Because the beach is so long you will seldom find it very crowded except in August and on weekends and public holiday over the summer. We normally try to visit in June when the weather is delightful and there are very few people around. If it is crowded try to go up to the northern end of the beach with is usually a little less busy. Poetto's Beach is full of nearby restaurants and bars with entertainment and activity that seems to never stop in summer, younger people than me will find it easy to dance the night away. I am sure you know of lots of nice places to stay near the beach but we found most of the hotels near Poetto to be poor so we always stay at the Caesars Hotel which is nicely situated in the city and the beaches are easy to get to from here. Funny thing about Cagliari is most of the hotels seem to be far worse than most other cities in Italy but the Caesar Hotel seems better - very good value. Andrew's Reply: Poetto Beach Cagliari is a great beach, few cities anywhere have better beaches right on their doorstep. I agree too about Hotels in Cagliari however a good value B&B in Cagliari is the Sa Domu Cheta. Return from Poetto Beach to the Beaches in Sardinia Page.
