Italy Tips - Il Tempo Ritrovato
A little out of the centre but on the Turin subway/underground route is Il Tempo Ritrovato. The name means time rediscovered in English and it is one of those places where afternoons or evenings seem to drift past in languid indulgence. Situated on the corner of via Passo di Brennero and Corso Monte Grappa, near the Monte Grappa stop. This is one of my must visit Italy tips. The food is always great and the menu changes weekly - according to what is in season. Gianni, the owner, comes from a family that has always been involved in the food business. His love for authentic, genuine dishes invariably shines through. Don’t miss the soufflé of spinach and the cream of piedmont nuts on the antipasto menu. The homemade Turin and Piedmont classic Agnolottini del plin, with a traditional sauce, is also a must. The dessert trolley has to be seen to be believed and will definitely bring a sparkle to your eye and a few pounds to the hips, but what are a few pounds in exchange for these delectable treats. All the best Piedmont desserts are here. The influence of his mamma Anna is great and the atmosphere of this restaurant is likewise a veritable celebration of family and friendship. Together with his wife Rosa, Gianni will ensure that your evening is a memorable one and you are sure to leave you with a smile on your face and a feeling of having stepped back in time to a less stressful and rushed era.
