The Uva in Corso Vittoria Emanuele, 119
The uva or the Grape, translated into English, is the place I take my wife when we want one of those romantic candlelight dinners for two and when nonna (granny) can be persuaded to look after our little son. The atmosphere is perfect and the food excellent. A small and intimate restaurant on two levels. Upstairs is for a night out with friends but downstairs is the romantic hideaway. The downstairs dining area is actually an old Turin wine cellar that has been converted. It has been faithfully preserved and only a few tables are available down here. If you are looking for a romantic night out then make sure you ask for a table in the “vecchia cantina”. Nearly all the tables downstairs accommodate only two people. Dining is excellent, not all the food is Piemontese or Torinese, they also have traditional recipes from other parts of Italy. Whether you prefer a menu based on seafood or meat you can be assured it will be great and the wine list is comprehensive, as you would expect in a restaurant called the Grape.
