A Country House in Italy
"Delightful" is the word that best describes this bed and breakfast/country house.
Pam and David have lovingly restored an abandoned farmhouse back to its former glory (find out more here) and they have really done a marvelous job. So much so that Channel 4 (a major UK TV channel) featured them on A Place in Italy.
The location is truly idyllic, tucked away in one of the loveliest corners of Le Marche, just five minutes from the gorgeous little town of San Ginesio. Arriving here particularly, in spring or summer, is memorable. The drive takes you through fields of poppies or sunflowers depending on the season and the ochre coloured farmhouse, set on a hillside and surrounded by fruit trees, is visible from quite a way off. The Sibillini country house gets its name from the surrounding mountains. Spend a few days here and feel the pressures of city living disappear. The house affords magnificent views of the surrounding countryside which are best enjoyed while lying next to the pool or while lingering over a fabulous breakfast or dinner on the terrace
. Food, always a major concern of mine to the detriment of my waistline, is excellent. The restaurant, featured under my restaurant guide section, is superb. Menus vary according to the season and the ingredients are invariably local and fresh. Seven beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated bedrooms are available, all of which are spacious with en-suite bathrooms. Many rooms have views of the surrounding countryside. If you would like to bring all your friends or family there is even the option of hiring the whole house including staff. A good idea for that special occasion. Visit the Sibillini Country House here.
