Cannelloni Recipe
Cannelloni is one of the most popular of Italian pasta al forno dishes and with good reason - it's delicious!! This is one of our favorite Italian Cannelloni recipes and let me tell you nothing much can beat homemade cannelloni.
1 lb. ground beefsalt & pepper to taste 2 cloves of garlic (minced) 1 egg 1/4 cup grated Pecarino Romano cheese 1/4 cups chopped fresh parsley 1/4 cup bread crumbs 1 cup of cooked and chopped spinach 2 cups tomato puree/passato di pomodoro
1) Fry ground beef with a little oil. As beef is cooking, break it up in small pieces. 2) Transfer beef to a large mixing bowl. Add salt, pepper, and garlic. Mix well. Add egg, cheese, parsley, bread crumbs, and more salt to taste. 3) Squeeze water out of cooked spinach and chop. Add spinach and 1/2 cup tomato puree. 4) Spread some of the tomato puree on the bottom of a baking pan. Stuff canelloni shells and place in pan. Spread more tomato sauce in between each layer and on the top. 5) Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour. Then, broil for 2−3minutes to brown top.
